Students may drop regular session classes from their schedule through the tenth week of the semester. Please see the Academic Calendar for exact deadlines.
Drop a Class
If students drop a regular-session class before the tenth day of the semester, the class will not appear on their transcript. However, if they drop a regular-session class after the tenth day, their transcript will show a grade of W (withdrawal) for that class.
W Grades
W grades will not be used in GPA calculation but may affect financial aid eligibility.
Limits on Withdrawals
Boise State limits the number of withdrawals (Ws) a student may receive while enrolled at Boise State.
- Students pursuing an associate degree may receive up to five Ws.
- Students pursuing baccalaureate degrees may receive up to ten Ws, including any received while in an associate degree, advanced technical certificate, or technical certificate program.
- Ws received before fall semester 1995 do not count toward the total allowed.
- Withdrawals from co-requisite courses that must be taken together (primarily lecture/lab courses) will count as one course for permitted withdrawal purposes.
- Withdrawals received as a result of a complete withdrawal from the university will not count toward the WÂ total.
Workshops and Other Short Courses
Workshops, short courses, five-week, and eight-week courses have different drop deadlines. See the Academic Calendar, Deadlines by Session table for exact deadlines.
Dropping After the Deadline
Students who wish to drop a class after the tenth week must complete a Request Form to Drop a Class After the Deadline.
