About the Climbing Gym

The Boise State Climbing Gym has something for everyone, no matter what your experience. All are welcome!

Just come on in and our knowledgeable and experienced staff will give you all the necessary information and equipment to get started. No prior skills or knowledge is necessary to climb in our facility.

We offer basic clinics, lead clinics, custom programs, family climbing hours, and special events.

Climbing Wall Basics

Climb to New Heights

We offer free Intro to Climbing classes each Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday during the Fall and Spring semesters to ensure all climbers can utilize the gym and have access to proper instruction. We will teach you parts and pieces of gear, figure 8 follow through knot, how to belay, communication, and how to keep safety a top priority in the Climbing Gym.

Opportunities

Belay & Lead Certification Assessments

Those who would like to Belay or Lead Climb in the climbing gym must pass an annual skills assessment test.  This test ensures our patrons know how to communicate, understand risk, and keep the gym a safe and controlled environment. Tests are given daily, and check-in with the staff to get all the details before taking the test.

Expires: 1 year

Lead Climbing Clinic

This clinic teaches the basics of lead sport climbing in our gym. We will cover parts and pieces of gear, clipping, belaying, falls, and communication.

*During Fall and Spring Semesters
*Must have current Belay Certification.
*Previous climbing experience needed; comfortable climbing (no falls) on a 5.9 route.
