More wins for the Talkin’ Broncos Parliamentary Debate Squad

The Talkin’ Broncos Parliamentary Debate Squad earned winning preliminary records and boasted a third-place overall finish at the Great Salt Lake Invitational hosted by the University of Utah Jan. 15-17. The tournament included students from Texas State University, Mercer College, College of Idaho and others.

Students competed in eight preliminary rounds before entering into double elimination finals. The hybrid team of Boise State Ximena Bustillo (senior, Nampa) and College of Idaho Blake Jones (senior, Kuna) emerged from preliminary rounds as the tournament’s top seed with a 7-1 record. Bustillo helped seal the top seed positioning with her fourth-place finish in Open Speaker Awards. Bustillo and Jones competed through six elimination rounds finishing the tournament in third place with a 1-2 decision for Mercer College. The team of Brian Del Toro (sophomore, Boise) and Alex Hobson (freshman, Meridian) had a non-advancing winning record in preliminary rounds.
