What's News at the Foundation http://foundation.boisestate.edu/

New Staff — Alicia Ritter is the new director of grant and fundraising initiatives. Alicia comes to us with extensive public relations and marketing experience at Ritter Consulting Inc., Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide, and Deen+Black Public Relations. Alicia’s office is located at Capitol Village.

Rosemary Reinhardt, formerly of the Idaho Shakespeare Festival and the St. Alphonsus Foundation, is a new special assistant to the president for the comprehensive campaign. Rosemary will provide daily staff assistance on all aspects of the Comprehensive Campaign, the Foundation and fundraising. For now, her office is located at Capitol Village.

Volunteer Board Congress — Please save the morning of Saturday, Dec. 8 for the Volunteer Board Congress for all college and program advisory board members. The program will feature President Bob Kustra, Vice President of Research Mark Rudin, campaign consultant Bruce Matthews and other fun and interesting speakers — plus sustenance to keep you alert and focused. Invitations will be mailed shortly.

Major Gift — A $5 million commitment from Linda Yanke and her family is among several leadership gifts for the recently announced $175 million Destination Distinction campaign. Paid out over five years, the funds will support three areas of critical need: Biomolecular Science Endowment, $3 million; equipment for the new nursing and student wellness building, $1 million; and support for the Boise State Capital Scholars Program, $1 million. Linda currently serves on the BSU Foundation board of directors executive committee and served on the campaign planning task force.

Scholar Donor Luncheon  — Scholarship donors should have received their invitation to attend the annual luncheon celebrating their generous and invaluable support of our students. Enclosed with that invitation was a report on their scholarship fund showing the financial activity for the fiscal year. Please direct any questions about the lunch or fund report to Rika Clement at rikaclement@boisestate.edu.

Eight Thousand in Eight Days — The Bronco Family gathered together in record numbers in September. Beginning Sept. 7 with Celebration in Seattle at the Space Needle, the Alumni Association put on six major events, culminating with Homecoming game on Sept. 15. More than 390 alums and friends from Seattle and Boise attended a reception at the Space Needle.  The next day more than 2500 assembled on the University of Washington campus for the Bronco Bash tailgate party prior to the game. The momentum continued though an ambitious slate of events during Homecoming week: the Distinguished Alumni awards banquet was held for the first time during Homecoming and had 140 in attendance; 35 attended the Golden Graduate dinner honoring the Class of 1957; a new tradition was born with the Bronco Nation Invasion, where more than 5,000 gathered at BoDo for a pep rally and musical entertainment; and more than 300 attended the Bronco Bash before the kickoff of the Homecoming game.
