How to Update DNS Server Information on Workstations

Details

The directions below are provided to assist with configuring the DNS server addresses on computers that have been setup with static IP addresses.

How to change your DNS IP address

In Windows XP:

Go to Control Panel > Network Connections and select your local network.
Click Properties, then select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Click Properties.

In the Preferred and the Alternate DNS server fields input the new IP addresses.

In Windows Vista:

Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center, select Manage network connections. Right click on 'local area connection'. Select Properties, then select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP).
Click Properties.
