GEM Scholarships
Description
GEM Scholarships waive non-resident tuition* for new out-of-state and international graduate students with a GPA of at least 3.0 who are accepted into a graduate program. There is no separate application process. If an eligible application is accepted into a graduate program, then Graduate Admission and Degree Services alerts the Financial Aid Office, which makes the offer to the student. GEM Scholarships are awarded for one year and may be renewed for one additional year if the student takes at least 9 graduate credits per semester for his/her first two semesters and maintains a minimum GPA of 3.0. Two years is the maximum award period.
To be eligible for a GEM Scholarship a student must:
- Be a new student (individuals who have attended Boise State University previously, either as an undergraduate or a graduate student, are not eligible)
- Have a permanent residence outside the State of Idaho (both international students and US citizens are eligible)
- Have a GPA as an undergraduate of 3.0 or higher
- Be accepted into a graduate program.
- Please note that both the online Educational Technology program and the online Instructional and Performance Technology program are ineligible for the GEM Scholarship.
*The student is still responsible for Resident fees; this represents a savings of approximately $9,000/year. Current information on tuition and fee costs at Boise State University can be found at the University Tuition & Fees page.
