Can I earn a complete degree at a distance?

At this time, full Associates and Bachelor’s degrees are not available through Distance Education at Boise State University, but we do offer two Bachelor-level degree completion programs, as well as three Master degrees completely at a distance using the Internet.

What academic advising is available for students taking classes through Distance Education?

You may contact the Distance Education Coordinator for student services to get detailed information about taking classes at a distance: ; 208.426.5622.

You may also review the information provided on the Gateway Center’s website at http://academicadvising.boisestate.edu/ or make an appointment to see an advisor in person. The Gateway Center offers one-on-one peer and professional academic advising for students who have not decided on a major.

For advising in a specific department, please find the department on the Academic Departments page, where they are listed under their colleges. Then link to the individual website.

Do I have to be admitted to Boise State University to take Distance Education classes?

Yes. You may be admitted as a non-degree seeking or degree-seeking student. Please review the admissions standards and requirements at http://admissions.boisestate.edu/.

How long do Distance Education classes last?

Most Distance Education classes run the full length of the semester, but check BroncoWeb to be sure. The Computer-Based Multimedia classes, for example, are offered in different sessions throughout the semester and have deadlines accordingly.

How much does it cost to take a course?

For current tuition and fees, please see http://admissions.boisestate.edu/tuition.htm . When searching for courses on BroncoWeb, pay close attention to the fees that are in addition to regular tuition (under "Class Fees" and/or "Course Fees" on the class detail page).

Is the credit received through Distance Education courses different from traditional, in-person classes?

No, because you are required to fulfill the same requirements that you would in the class’s in-person equivalent.
